Who are the Slackjaw Bros.?
Before forming The Orange Town Revival with Sister Dee, Brother Tom was part of a musical duo with "Brother" Ray Herbeck, performing songs of the American Civil War, pioneer days, and the Old West as "The Slackjaw Bros."
Long time students of American history, Tom and Ray were among the original members of Terry's Texas Rangers, a Civil War re-enacting group that was formed in the 1970s and active until about 2020.
In 2009, The Slackjaw Bros. recorded their first CD, "Almost Live," performing songs from the 1700s to 1800s. These traditional American tunes, arranged and performed by them, expressed their enthusiasm for the material in a fresh and vibrant way.
In 2020, they released their latest CD, "Wakin' Up Dead," bringing more favorite tunes from the past centuries, with new instrumentation added in the mix.
